Passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010, at Covenant Medical Center - Cooper. Age 97 years. Ruth was born on August 9, 1913, in Saginaw, to the late Frederick and Emilia (Gardey) Holl. She was married to Elmer (Spike) Harris on May 11, 1935, in Saginaw, having just celebrated their 75th Wedding Anniversary. Ruth was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and an honorary member of its Ladies Aid Society and the Senior Saints. Ruth loved quilting, camping, and was an excellent card player, earning master points in Bridge. She lived for her family, especially for her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving besides her husband, Spike, are their three children and their spouses, Barbara (Gary) Harvey, Saginaw; Susan (Thomas) Bailey, Saginaw; Thomas (Susan) Harris, Salem, N.H.; six grandchildren, Steven (Mary) Harvey, Saginaw; Karen (Duane) Boswell, Freeland; Douglas (Susan) Harvey, Freeland; Linda (Robert) Bartosiewicz, Freeland; Jeff (Shari) Bailey, Freeland; Elizabeth Harris, Palo Alto, CA; 14 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Aaron and Erik Harvey; Nathan, Mollie and Matthew Boswell; Gabe, Jonathan and Noah Bartosiewicz; Nicholas and Lauren Bailey; Ashley, Allison and Madison Harvey; many nieces and nephews, including her special nephew, James (Dianne) Harris, Saginaw. Ruth was predeceased by five sisters, Louise Holl; Amanda Schultz; Ottilia Pfund; Marie Ramsey and Margaret Harris. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 26, 2010, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 808 Weiss St. The Rev. Charles F. Buckhahn will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave., on Wednesday, August 25, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., then at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
