Hanes, Julia Jean, Prescott, MI and Sarasota, FL, Formerly of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at the age of 83 years. Julia Jean Niederstadt was born September 19, 1926 in Saginaw, the daughter of the late Bonnie Jean (Hill) and Frank Benoit Niederstadt Sr. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School with the Class of 1944. She married Robert D. Hanes on September 11, 1948; he survives her. They enjoyed spending their summers in Prescott and, after retirement, their winters in Sarasota, Florida. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and was a nurturing spirit to all of her family and friends. Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Marjorie Hanes, Gaylord, Sue and Bill Portmann, Caro, and Sally Hanes, Gaylord; five grandchildren, Sarah and Adam Portmann, and Aaron, Amy and Katy McIntyre; two sisters, two brothers and their spouses, Helen Grainger, Mary and Harold Ryman, Robert and Sue Niederstadt, and Charles Niederstadt; several loving sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and many nieces, nephews and their families. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by three sisters and one brother, Judy Cunningham, Barbara Deford, Frank Niederstadt Jr. and Bonnie Brady. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2010, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, where her family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday and then on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
