Beloved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother went to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at St. Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center surrounded by his family. Age 48 years. The son of Keith and Patricia (Manor) Hammis, Bob was born June 10, 1962 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Valerie (Vicky) Poole, his loving wife of 22 years, on August 29, 1987. She survives him. Bob graduated from St. Stephen High School in 1980 and earned his degree in respiratory therapy from Delta College. He was employed at St. Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center for 15 years. Bob was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. Bob faced many health challenges in his lifetime. He was our hero and an inspiration to all who knew him. Bob will be greatly missed. Surviving besides his wife Vicky are two sons, Jeremy Hammis and his wife Jenny; Robert Hammis Jr.; two grandchildren, Logan and Ethan Hammis; Bob’s parents, Keith and Pat Hammis; two brothers and four sisters, Jeanne and Edward Napierala, Debra and Robert Cherry Jr., Pamela and Daniel Wolpert, Marcia and Dr. Michael Wolohan, Keith and Connie Hammis, Michael and Lori Hammis; his mother-in-law, Betty Chapple, Saginaw; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Debra and Scott Grades, New Lothrup; Patricia Poole, U.S. Air Force; several nieces and nephews; his godparents, Tom and Elaine Rau. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. William R. Taylor will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at St. Stephen Catholic Church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service, led by Audrey Wilson, Pastoral Associate, will take place at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
