Hager, Nellie Mary, Saginaw, Michigan

Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence. Age 93 years. Daughter of the late Peter and Addie (Rivette) Jean, Nellie was born December 7, 1916 in Bay City, Michigan. She was married to Herman Charles Hager on January 21, 1937. He predeceased her May 17, 1981. Nellie had been employed at Ray’s Food Fair for 26 years, the Pink Pellican and Pic Nic Drive Inn as a cook. She was a member of the catholic faith. Nellie loved gardening and was known as “Grandma Grass Seed”. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Bob Maher, Saginaw; five grandchildren, Chris (Rob) Friedli, Saginaw; Diana (Jeff) Shaw, Saginaw; Anthony (Katrina) Peplinski, Mt. Clemens; Todd (Dana) Hager, Winston Salem, North Carolina; Charles Hager, Houston, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Diane Hager, Cincinnati, Ohio; a son-in-law, Mike Betts, Ithaca; five great- grandchildren, Kyle and Stephanie Friedli, Michael and Britney Hager, Owen Peplinski; two step great-grandchildren, Alan and Lauren Shaw; many nieces and nephews. Nellie was preceded in death by her sons, Wayne and Raymond Hager; her daughter, Wendy (Peplinski) Betts; grandchildren, Michelle, Joseph and Andrew Peplinski and 16 brothers and sisters. Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2010 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty). Rev. Fr. Richard Jozwiak will officiate with entombment in Oakwood Mausoleum. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Monday from 12:00 noon to until time of service.
