Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Friday, December 24, 2010 at Stone Crest Assisted Living. Age 97 years. Daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Lewandowski) Lugiewicz, Helen was born July 8, 1913 in Carrollton, Michigan. She was married to Leonard F. Gilginas, her loving husband of 62 years, on June 17, 1939. He predeceased her August 10, 2001. Helen was a member of St. Josaphat Catholic Church, its Rosary-Altar Society, its Senior Citizens, League of Catholic Women and Carrollton Senior Citizens. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and especially her family. Surviving are one son and his wife, Ron and Ada Gilginas, Freeland; five grandsons, David Rase, Gerald and Barbara Rase, James and Julie Gilginas, Scott and Mary Gilginas, Ron and Carrie Gilginas; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Ray and Marilyn Gilginas, Saginaw; several nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her daughter Marylou Rase and four sisters and four brothers. The Gilginas family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Stone Crest Assisted Living for the love and care they had given. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at St. Josaphat Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Ronald Dombrowski will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at St. Josaphat Catholic Church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. St. Josaphat Ladies Rosary-Altar Society will pray the Rosary at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday and a Vigil Service will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
