Passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Select Specialty Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was 75 years old. Josephine Rodarte was born on February 9, 1935 in Uvalde, Texas to the late Jose Casamiro and Maria Refugio (Ortiz) Rodarte. She married Felix Gallardo, Sr. on October 25, 1958; he preceded her in death on August 5, 1995. Josephine along with her husband was the owner and operator of El-Gallito Restaurant. Prior to the restaurant she worked as the head cashier at Vescio’s. She was a parishioner at St. Christopher Catholic Church. Josephine loved spending time with both her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she also enjoyed going to the casino. Two daughters and a son survive Josephine: Abigail M. Gonzalez and her fiancé, Gregory R. McLeod, Laurie J. (Erwin) Gonzales, Felix Jr. (Susan) Gallardo; four grandchildren, Javier J. Gonzalez, Jessica M., Jacquelyn R. and Andrew Hernandez; four great grandchildren: Javier, Eviana, Jesus “Chewy” and Noah; two brothers and three sisters: Guadalupe (Victor) Morales, Manuel (Mary) Rodarte, Valerino Rodarte, Angelina (Guadalupe) Blanco and Ruby (Sam) Melchor; special friends: Olivia Hernandez and Helen Payne; Casino buddies: Lupe Blanco and Rick Paez; her loving pet, Roxy; five brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother and sister: Roberto and Juanita. Josephine’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Andrew Cohen, Covenant Wound Healing Center Staff and the Staff of Select Specialty Care Hospital for the care and comfort they provided during her illness. Josephine’s funeral liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 12, 2010, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 3945 Williamson Road. Rev. Fr. John Mancini, OSFS will officiate with burial to follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State) on Thursday, November 11, 2010 from 1:00 until 9:00 p.m. There will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home under the direction of Pastor Frank Gallardo. Josephine will lie in state at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
