Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family. Age 88 years. Daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Lampert) Pasterz, Bernice was born March 13, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois. She was married to Robert J. Franz, her loving husband of 62 years, on November 29, 1947. He survives her. Bess was employed at Eaton Manufacturing and Lufkin Rule. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #4232. Bess and Bob were also members of M 46 Cruisers and Cars of the Past Touring Club. Her passion was gardening and growing flowers and vegetables that touched much of the community. Bess loved people. Surviving besides her husband Bob are five daughters, Linda Franz and her special friend James Morris, San Antonio, Texas; Mary Jane and Bill Lauman, Point Lookout, Michigan; Jacqueline Franz, Las Vegas, Nevada; Brigitte and Bob Fowler, Farmington Hills; Bernice M. Franz, South Lyon; seven grandchildren, Amy, Melissa, Jenny, Jeff, Christie, Ashley and Austin; four great-grandsons, Anthony, Christopher, Nicholas and Adam; her twin sister, Stella Tessin, Saginaw; several nieces and nephews. Bess was preceded in death by her son Rick Franz and two brothers, Ignace and Roman Pasterz. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2010 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Randy Kelly will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty) where the family will be present on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. The Knights of Columbus Council #4232 will pray the Rosary at 3:00 p.m. Sunday and a Vigil Service will take place at 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
