Engel, Carl E., Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Friday, September 24, 2010, in Grayling. Age 92 years. The son of the late Emil and Alma (Selensky) Engel was born October 29, 1917 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Josephine (Tootsie) Karas. She passed away May 10, 2007. He had been employed by General Motors, Chevrolet Transmission Plant, retiring with over thirty years of service. He served with the U. S. Army during WWII. He enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, gardening and his cabin along the AuSable River. Surviving are two sons, Richard A. Engel and his wife Pamela; Gary Engel and his fiancé, Sue Bannan; three granddaughters and their spouses, Tonia and Tony Silveri; Heidi and Troy Jundt; Kristy and Grant Furgeson; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Elaine Kundinger, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and one sister, Arthur, William, Eldon, and Gladys. In accordance with Carl’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road. Rev. Rob Richards will officiate. Friends may call at the Chapel from noon Saturday until the time of the memorial service.
