A beautiful lady and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend went to heaven on Sunday evening, July 11, 2010 at the age of 90 years with her family at her side. Grace was born November 6, 1919 in Merrill, Michigan the daughter of the late Benedict and Mary (Phalen) O’ Toole. She was one of ten children raised in a strong, loving, faith-filled family. This way of life continued on when Grace married Albert Dean November 26, 1944. Together they enjoyed raising a family of thirteen children. Albert predeceased her January 18, 1996. The family continued to grow with twenty-six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, which added to the joys of Grace’s life. Grace was a strong believer of the catholic faith and lived her life accordingly. She was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Ryan parish and Alter Society. Grace enjoyed spending time with her large family, her sisters and brothers and her sister-in-law, Dottie. She also enjoyed cooking; an occasional trip to the casino and was an avid Detroit Tigers’ fan. Grace will be remembered for her patience, kindness and loving ways. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her thirteen children, Gary (Sue) Dean, Breckenridge, MI, Bob (Peg) Dean, Merrill, MI, Ann (Chet) Gensch, Merrill, MI, Ed (Deb) Dean, Saginaw, MI, June (Mike) Pentrich, Breckenridge, MI, Mary (Dan) DeRosia, St. Louis, MI, Linda (Bob) Anguiano, St. Louis, MI, Bill (Special friend, Linda) Dean, Breckenridge, MI, Tom (Patti) Dean, Carmel, IN, Colleen Wertz, Breckenridge, MI, Don “Nick” (Marie) Dean, Midland, MI, Bernie (Kathy) Dean, Midland, MI, Deb (Russ) Willett, Essexville, MI; twenty-six grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bob (Doreen) O’Toole and Bill O’ Toole; two sisters, Sister Marie Benedict O’Toole and Patty Wurtzel. In addition to her husband, Grace was predeceased by a son-in-law, Tim Wertz; two brothers, Fr. Aloysius O’Toole and Dominic O’Toole; three sisters, Dorothy Rousseau, Sister Marie Bernard O’Toole and Betty Beyer. The family would like to thank Mid-Michigan Medical Center and King’s Daughters for the kindness and wonderful care given to their mother. The funeral mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Merrill. Rev. Fr. Prentice Tipton will officiate with burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Ryan. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at W. L. Case & Company, Merrill, where they may join the family for a parish vigil service at 7:00 p.m. and at church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
