Danko, Emil A., Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence. He was 81 years old. Emil Andrew Danko was born July 30, 1929 in Flint, MI to the late Martin and Mary (Kohoruda) Danko. Emil was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Army. He then worked for General Motors for 33 years and retired in 1984. Emil was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them; he was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Tigers and U of M football. Emil is survived by his children: Lynne (Glenn) Johnson, Brooke (Jeff) Sherven, and Drew Danko; five grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; his sister, Irene Danko; and his brother, Francis Kopina; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Davies. A funeral service for Emil will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State). Fr. Joseph A. Schabel will officiate with burial to follow in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service.
