Colton, Helen R., Saginaw, Michigan

Our beloved mother, grandmother and sister passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Covenant-Harrison at the age of 86 years. Helen Ruth Wyant was born March 5, 1924, in Saginaw to the late Russell and Florence (Iden) Wyant. She married Harlan Colton in 1947 and he predeceased her in 2001 after enjoying 54 years of marriage. She worked for JC Penney as a secretary for many years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and playing BINGO. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Helen was known for her good sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her sons, Russell “Buckie” (Judy) Colton and Harley (Mina) Colton; grandchildren, Christin, Chad, Cari, Mario and Jamie; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister Bonnie (Richard) Webb. She was predeceased by a grandson John Harlan and a sister Clarvell. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2010, at W.L. Case & Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. James Neumann will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
