Passed away Saturday, October 30, 2010 Cartwright Hospice Residence. Age 91 years. Norman H. Clinkston was born on November 18, 1918, in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Benjamin and Ellen (Medalie) Clinkston. He married Eleanore Kubiak on August 29, 1952. She preceded him in death on October 10, 1998. Norm was a 1936 graduate from Arthur Hill High School. He then attended Central Michigan University. His first job was as a Merchant Marine on the Interlake Steam Ship SS - Fayette Brown on the Great Lakes. Norm owned a scrap metal business all of his adult life, holding the title of President of B. Clinkston and Sons in Saginaw, along with his three sons. Norm enjoyed sports and especially liked traveling in Northern Michigan. He was a member of the Honest John Birthday Club. Norm also enjoyed spending time at their old homestead in Mancelona, Michigan. Surviving are three sons: Steven and his wife Alice Clinkston of Bay City, Mark Clinkston and Michael and his wife Melanie Clinkston of Saginaw; a daughter, Betty Jo Schwind of Midland; three grandchildren: Spencer and Cole Clinkston of Bay City, Alena Clinkston of Saginaw; a brother, Phillip Clinton, M.D., of Red Bluff, CA; a sister, Elayne Bloom of Cincinnati, OH; a brother, Bert (Barbara) Clinkston of Seattle, WA; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Monica) Kubiak; sister-in-law, Helen Kubiak; a niece Sally (William) Stiles; and several other nieces and nephews. Norm was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanore; brothers-in-law: Chester, John and Richard Kubiak, and a sister-in-law, Margaret Haremski and her husband Walter. A service honoring Norm will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State). Rev. Ron Compton will officiate. In accordance with Normís wishes, cremation will follow. Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Michigan Heart Association.
