Claus, John R., Hemlock, Michigan

Beloved father, grandfather and brother passed away Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Covenant Health Care Harrison. Age 71 years. The son of the late John and Mollie (Lich) Claus, John was born February 14, 1938 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Virginia M. Farmer on September 27, 1958. She predeceased him February 15, 2006. John was employed by M. Curry Corporation as a precision grinder for 38 years. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.  He was also active in the Covenant Grief Support Group.  Surviving are three daughters and their spouses, Judy and Kenneth Prater, Saginaw Twp.; Diane and John Henning III, Saginaw Twp.; Janine and James Peddy, Georgia; three grandchildren, Jamie (Gary) Baase, Kenny John  Prater, John Charles Henning IV; a great-grandson, Logan Prater;  his loyal, faithful brother and best buddy, Jerry  (Wynette) Claus, Merrill; his sister, Betty Moulton, Hemlock; a sister-in-law, Jean Mazur, Saginaw Twp.;  a very devoted, loving companion,  Joan Vacik, Freeland; several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Blackwell.  The family would like to thank the staff at Covenant Emergency Center and Covenant ICU for the wonderful care they had given John.  Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2010 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Richard Jozwiak will officiate with entombment in St. Andrew Mausoleum. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at St. John Vianney Catholic Church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service led by Mr. Rod Chefalo will take place at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Salvation Army or charity of your choice.
