Brennan, Katherine “Kay” Elizabeth, Saginaw Township, Michigan

Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence; she was 93 years old. Katherine Elizabeth Kruse was born on September 29, 1916 in Saginaw to the late Irving and Orpha (VanBuskirk) Kruse. She married Daniel M. Brennan on January 12, 1946 at Warren Avenue Presbyterian Church; he preceded her in death on July 30, 1995. She was a 1934 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Kay loved her time at Shattuck Manor and also cherished the many good friends she made throughout her stay. She was a charter member of Countryside Trinity Church. Kay was an avid reader, and a history buff. She also had a passion for painting, gardening and traveling. Surviving are her children: Marsha Schmiegel, San Ramon, CA, Michael Brennan, Saginaw, MI, Maureen (Gerald) Taylor, Mount Pleasant, MI; four grandchildren: Kyle (Jennifer), Kory and Kurt Schmiegel, and Jennifer (Geo) Thomas; five great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister: Louis I. (Mildred) Kruse, Saginaw, MI, Ruth French, Saginaw, MI, and Richard (Phyllis) Kruse, L’Anse, MI; and a sister-in-law, Helen Brennan, Saginaw, MI. Kay is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to the staff of Shattuck Manor, Covenant HealthCare-Cooper, HealthSource Saginaw, and the Cartwright Hospice Residence for all of the loving care and support they provided for Kay. Katherine’s Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 3, 2010 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State). Rev. Kenneth Parker will officiate. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Mausoleum.
