Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper. He was 74 years of age Duane W. Bogard was born on June 9, 1935 in Saginaw to the late Frank and Martha (Dubay) Bogard. He was married to Helen “Jean” Miller on November 9, 1968 in Saginaw. She survives him. Duane served in the U.S. Air Force during the Koran War. He attended Kendall Collage of Art and Design in Grand Rapids. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service; retiring in 1990 after 35 years of service. Duane loved being outdoors gardening, feeding the birds or golfing. He was the secretary of the Post Office golf league. He also enjoyed classical music and movies, and watching sports on television. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Left to cherish Duane’s memory is a wife, Helen; a daughter, Leslie (David) Maday of Saginaw; a grandson, Jaxon Maday; two sisters: Roberta (Walter) Graveline of Bay City, Karen Aikin (fiancé, Gerald Sage) of Chico, CA; one brother, Tim (Diane) Bogard of Saginaw. Also surviving are several aunts, nieces, nephews and extended family. Duane was preceded in death by a son, Christian Bogard on October 2, 1995. Duane’s Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Road. Rev. Fr. David L. Parsch will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Air Force. Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State) on Friday, May 28, 2010 from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Duane will lie in state at church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
