Bloomfield, Leta Delbridge, Saginaw, Michigan

Long time Saginaw resident passed away peacefully on October 27, 2010 at the age of 108. Leta Delbridge was born August 1, 1902 in Malta, Illinois, the daughter of George and Nellie Delbridge. Upon completing high school in DeKalb Illinois, she graduated from the Northern Illinois State Normal School and then earned a bachelors of science from the University of Illinois. She married Dr. Hugh F. Bloomfield of Saginaw on September 1, 1928. Two daughters - Roxane of Chicago, Illinois and Deborah (husband Edward LeSage) of Salem, Oregon - survive her. Preceding her in death are Hugh F. Bloomfield, her sister Fayetta Delbridge Kohler of Illinois, and her brother Dr. Donald C. Delbridge of Arizona. A career educator, she taught at the Elwood School in DeKalb,Illinois, the Baldwin High School in Birmingham, Michigan, Arthur Hill High School and Saginaw High School. She was a charter member and president of the Saginaw County Dental Auxiliary, a member of the American Association of University Women, the Germania Town and Country Club, the Saginaw Girl Scout Council and a life long member of First Congregational Church in Illinois. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2010, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 409 Adams St. Rev. Mark Karls will officiate with entombment in Oakwood Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Chapel from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
