Beloved mother and grandmother passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Covenant Health Care Harrison. Age 84 years. The daughter of the late Otto E. and Cecelia Lou (Johnson) Schroeder, Jean was born November 24, 1926 in Saginaw, Michigan and was a lifelong resident. She married Otto H. Beuthin on August 30, 1947 whom she dearly loved. He predeceased her July 25, 2006. Surviving are seven children and their spouses, 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Christina (Jesus) Liron, Milford; Dustin (Claudia) Liron and Stephania and Lucas, Ann Arbor; Jordan Liron, Milford; Victoria McKinney who recently lost her husband John, Mission Viejo, California; Jason (Victoria) McKinney, Isabella and Emory, Los Gatos, California; Rory (Trisha) McKinney, Hermosa Beach, California; Kurt (Linda) Beuthin, Charlevoix; Lucille Beuthin, Torch Lake; Jamie Beuthin, Laguna Beach, California; Melissa (Rick) Wesolek, Holland; Mason, Madelyn and Logan Wesolek; Lou Ellen (John) Mertz, Saginaw; Tarah (Brad) Woodberg, Plymouth; Graham Mertz and fiancée Kim Savage, Auburn; Chelsea Mertz, Saginaw; Laura (Thomas) Armstrong, Owosso; Nicholas Armstrong, Brewerton, New York; Zachary Armstrong, Kalamazoo; Jeanne (David) Visuri, Saginaw; Evan Visuri, Traverse City; Elliott Visuri, Saginaw; Daniel (Annette) Beuthin, Bay City; Adam, Connor and David Beuthin, Bay City. Jean’s next love was caring for the injured and sick, spending 44 years in active nursing. Jean attended Mercy College in Detroit, Michigan, graduating from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She was a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corps. Jean worked at St. Mary’s Hospital, Saginaw General and St. Luke’s Emergency Rooms and did private duty nursing as well. She joined forces with General Motors-Saginaw Delphi Steering as a plant nurse taking National Boards in Occupational Medicine in Washington, D.C. In 1983, she earned her certificate in Occupational Medicine. Jean then became an Associate Medical Coordinator for the division retiring in 1988. She was a past member of Germania Town & Country Club for 20 years, the General Motors Women’s Club, Saginaw Steering Gear Retired Salary Club, League of Catholic Women, Occupational Nursing Association, Michigan Nurses Association and a charter member of St. Helen Catholic Church. Jean was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin and Donald Schroeder. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2010 at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2445 N. Charles St. in Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Emmett Marceau will officiate with entombment in Oakwood Mausoleum. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, (between Shattuck and McCarty), in Saginaw, where the family will be present on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at St. Helen Catholic Church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. There will be a Vigil Service at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
