Anspach, Mavis J., Saginaw, Michigan

Our beloved mother and grandmother passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at the age of 80. Mavis was born August 26, 1929, in Lakota, North Dakota to the late Ole and Sarah (MacLeod) Ericksrud. She grew up on a farm, graduated from Lakota High School and taught in a one room school house. In her twenties she worked as a secretary in California and Minnesota, then married Wilmur Anspach and moved to Michigan in 1959. She loved raising her family, bridge, crafts, bowling and gardening. Mavis was a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels and the READ Association, and she and Wilmur travelled all over the world. Some of her favorite days were spent with the Crazy Ladies Bridge Club. She is survived by her children, Sara (William) Poulos and Bill Anspach; grandchildren, Kathryn and Matthew Poulos; sisters-in-law Blanche Ericksrud, Jeanette Ericksrud and Barbara (Lyle) Ramsey; and special friends, Gail Kinsler and Carol LaRue. Wilmur predeceased Mavis in 1994. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at First Presbyterian Church, 121 Harrison. Dr. Robert Emrich will officiate. Friends may call at the church from 12:00 noon until the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
