Passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at her home. She was 92 years old. Mary A. Berghoff was born January 18, 1917 in Buena Vista Twp. to the late Raymond and Ellen (Hogan) Berghoff. Mary was married to Frederick Altscheffel on August 4, 1945 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Saginaw. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1976. Mary was employed as the Deputy Treasurer with the Saginaw County Treasurers Office for several years until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, League of Catholic Women and the Legion of Mary. Mary enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.  Mary is survived by her two sons: Raymond (Katherine) Altscheffel of Bay City and John (Kathleen) Altscheffel of Saginaw; three daughters: Alice (Timothy) Bierlein of Reese, Marie (Danny) Perez of Saginaw, Kathryn (Fred) Huber of Vassar; 12 grandchildren: Karrie (Scott) Breigel, James (Rachel) Altscheffel, Robert (Julie) Altscheffel, Daniel Altscheffel and his companion, Gina, Kristine (Scott) Redwanz, Kelly and Adam Bierlein, Jenna and Michael Perez, Whitney, Ryan and Austin Huber; six great grandchildren; two sisters: Agnes Hart and Kathleen Hagen both of Saginaw. Her sister, Josephine Webber, preceded her in death.  The funeral liturgy for Mary will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. Sixth St., Rev. Fr. Daniel Anholzer, OFMCap will officiate will burial to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 from 2:00 until 9:00 p.m. A vigil honoring Mary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Mary will lie in state at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church or a charity of the Donor’s Choice.
